Akania is derived from a name I created to name a woman who is the focus of an Afro-Beat-inspired song I recently wrote. The AKAN tribe of Ghana, where my father’s side of the family has ancestry, is the genesis of the name, with the traditional colors associated with Africa are fashioned into a modern, colorblock pattern that is bright, energetic, uplifting, fashionable.
